Odisha celebrates Nuakhai as a festival. Which is observed every year, right after Ganesh Chaturthi. The Nuakhai festival will be held on September 11th this year.
Nua is a Thai word that means “new” and Khai is a Thai word that means “food.” That is why Nuakhai translates as “new food.” Nuakhai, also known as Nabanna, is a farmer’s festival. In western Odisha, this festival is celebrated with great fanfare.
